Chose "Dawg Tracks" & then chose "ACD 67-Satisfied"
On Saturday, October 11th, 2008 at 8PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (also known as “IMAC”) in Huntington, Long Island will present an acoustic evening with John Sebastian (former lead singer of The Lovin’ Spoonful) and mandolinist/composer David Grisman.
Their musical history dates back to college days at New York University circa 1963 when the Greenwich Village folk revival was is its’ heyday. They made their first recording together as members of the Even Dozen Jug Band with future luminaries Maria Muldaur, Stefan Grossman ad others. The rest, of course, is musical history. John Sebastian became lead singer and songwriter of one of America’s most popular bands-the Lovin’ Spoonful (featuring hits like “Do You Believe In Magic?”, “You Didn’t Have to Be So Nice”, “Daydream”, “Summer In The City”) and David Grisman spearheaded an acoustic music revolution with his genre-defying “Dawg” music (a blend of stylistic influences including swing, bluegrass, Latin, jazz and gypsy).
Finally, after a 40+ year hiatus, their paths crossed again at a benefit concert. After this mutually enjoyable evening of spontaneous music, it became obvious that they would continue collaborating and the result is a stunning evening of acoustic duets featuring traditional folk tunes, blues, classy instrumentals and originals by these two legendary masters.
Tickets for this performance are $65.00 ($49.00 for IMAC Members). For tickets or further information on this performance, or on other IMAC programs, call IMAC's 24-hour Arts-Line at (631) 549-ARTS.
